Discuss non-profit choice and go over following process due today:

  • competitive analysis research
  • questionnaire results
  • content inventory

NEXT DESIGN STEPS

  1. 3 User Personas 
    Search online for data about the primary audience for your non-profit and similar organizations or topic. Also have conversations with people who are a potential audience member – gather demographic and behavioral information from them.

    Use this base information to create three user personas. Identify behavioral patterns, characteristics, and biographical information. Try to identify various types of users at different ends of the spectrum – consider physical, cognitive, emotional, and societal aspects. Try and include someone that is typically excluded. “Solve for one, extend to many.”
  2. Business/Brand/User Goals
    Define the goals of the business, brand, and user. See how all three can impact the other.
  3. Strategy Statement
    Write your strategy statement for how you will improve upon the current site, differentiate yourself from your competitors, and meet the needs of your users and client. Refer to your previously written goals of the website. Think of this as your elevator pitch – try to keep it concise. Example Format: “It is this, it has these goals, for these reasons, for these people, to do this.”
  4. Sitemap
    Create a site map to show how your content will be organized. Your previous content outline & competitive analysis, as well as an understanding of the customer’s needs will help you to separate content into distinct, organized, prioritized pages.

Find your Usability Test Form in this Google Drive Folder for your website.

To share the link with classmates:

  • Copy and Paste the Link with your classmate when testing them.

Test classmates on current site. Document their experience and pain points. Use as contextual research to assist in your development of your goals and strategy.
